Kajan Ratnakumar, Ph.D.

Kajan is a patent agent with expertise in molecular biology. Kajan received his bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in physics from the New York University in 2003. He earned a PhD from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 2012; his dissertation research was carried out in the field of epigenetics with a focus on the study of histone variant proteins. After completing his graduate work, Kajan was a postdoctoral researcher at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where he developed a zebrafish model system to study cancer metastasis, and a research scientist at the University of Washington where he studied UV-induced skin cancers.
